Orlando McDaniel

Orlando McDaniel Bio

Orlando McDaniel was an American football player turned entrepreneur, widely known for his achievements both on and off the field. Born on December 31, 1957, in Shreveport, Louisiana, McDaniel showcased exceptional talent in football from an early age. In high school, he earned nationwide recognition as a top prospect, receiving numerous scholarship offers from prestigious universities across the country. Eventually, he decided to attend Louisiana State University (LSU) and became a standout wide receiver for the LSU Tigers. During his college football career, McDaniel's athleticism and skills flourished, earning him All-SEC honors in 1978. Furthermore, he excelled in the classroom, earning a degree in business administration from LSU. His outstanding performance on the field and in academics led to McDaniel being selected by the Denver Broncos in the 1980 NFL Draft. However, his NFL career was cut short due to a knee injury sustained during training camp, preventing him from playing in any regular-season games. Despite his football dreams being dashed, McDaniel refused to let adversity define him. He shifted his focus towards entrepreneurship and founded The McDaniel Corporation, which specialized in marketing, consulting, and promoting diverse businesses. As the CEO of the company, he successfully assisted various organizations in developing their brand identity and marketing strategies, thereby contributing to their growth and success. In addition to his professional achievements, McDaniel was recognized for his contributions to his community. He established the Orlando McDaniel Foundation, which aimed to promote educational opportunities for underserved youth. Through the foundation, he offered scholarships and mentoring programs to help young students achieve their academic goals. Tragically, McDaniel's life was cut short when he succumbed to complications from COVID-19 on April 17, 2020, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, philanthropy, and determination.
