Pupo is one of several children living at Grace Field House, an orphanage that is eventually revealed to be a front for a sinister operation. Under the pretense of providing a loving home for the children, Grace Field House is actually a farm where the young inhabitants are raised as food for demons. Pupo, like the other children, is completely unaware of the true nature of their situation.

Despite his relatively minor role in the plot, Pupo's character contributes to the show's themes of innocence and the cruelty of the adult world. As a young child who has never known true love or affection, Pupo is an embodiment of pure innocence. At the same time, the revelations about Grace Field House and its true purpose are a stark reminder of the harsh realities of the world outside of childhood.
