Beginner here!

Lately, I've been trying to get into new hobbies, and I've become interested in cycling, thanks to a dream I had. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of road bike I should get and any tips for cycling? :)

Trek has a nice range of bikes to look at. I have a hybrid, so the tires aren't super skinny and the handle bars are upright.. I kinda wanted the elephant ears but didn't want to pay that much. I haven't ridden it in 15 years but for maybe once... Not the best area here to ride.. but we do have that one trail by the yock.. similar to the Illinois prairie path

Personally I never go for road bikes the closest I would ever come is a gravel bike I can't stand the narrow tires of race bikes too risky for roads and bad repair. Personally just make sure the frame fits your height pretty much anything else can be changed, I have to carry my bike up and down stairs to store it in my place so I for that reason would choose nothing but an aluminum frame! I go for standard mountain bike tires of about 2 in width since I know then my wheel won't fold if I hit a pothole ( watched that happen to a friend once). So basically I would say it doesn't have to be fancy you should take into account the weight if you're going to be carrying it up and downstairs to store it make sure the frame isn't too big for you, and tires that are a little wider provide better stability that will allow you to ride on rough roads gravel or in the shoulder season potentially even winter.

The best road bike is the one that fits you. If you're purchasing a used bike, try to test (adjusting the seat and) riding it as long as you can. New bikes should have one in store you can test too. If you're a new rider, the first few rides (it can take months) might be uncomfortable as your back and hams adjust to drop bars. That's normal, but you should still have a good idea if bike is too large or small for your frame. You want to comfortably reach the bars, while also feeling like your legs have space and the bike isnt too small (נערך)

One of those off-road electric bikes that have the option of switching to pedal power so you can do long distance mountain treks with maybe some camping in the wilderness would be fun.

Take at least two bottles of water with you and get a basket for the front and back

Hmm try going for entry level bicycles first, like for ladies I’ll always recommend them to get a bike they are comfortable with. Like Giant Bicycles they do make bikes for ladies under the Liv brand I think. First start small before deciding to take the jump for better components or bikes, of course ask yourself if you are getting a bike for exercising, leisure or simply commuting.

kinda depends on your budget and what type of riding your goals have in mind. I've always ridden Specialized so I would look into an Allez or Roubaix for new comers as the are more upright and comfortable as you increase your distance. my best advice, when you do get a bike get fitted at a bike shop so you can enjoy yourself without pain. don't focus on a padded seat, focus on cycling shorts that have good padding. start slow and enjoy yourself so you're more excited about each ride, as you build up your interst may change so take it slow and have fun!! ☺️

A bike that fits you. If you can afford you should check stores that have a bike fitting setup, they will measure your body and after that they can recommend a bike for you. Good luck
