Favorite bass?

My favorite so far is my custom Harley Benton JB-20. I swapped the jazz pickups for hot stack seymour Duncan's and added an SG style humbucker to the neck. Absolutely love the tone and feel of the modern C neck

I want to pick up bass guitar but don’t know where to start on guitars/ accessories to get? Any recommendations on what I’d need and maybe what to avoid as I want something that’ll get me through much of the starting stages of recording practice samples and such. TIA 🖤

A design I've been working on for years! Time to get to it now that I have more tools. I'm thinking of using this block of walnut and maybe a hard maple neck. I really wanna throw in some Wenge to give it some deep tones of black.
