A popular theory states that we have more than 5 senses. We simply do not have the technology to detect our additional senses. Getting the feeling that someone is watching you could be your sixth sense.

It is accepted that humans have more than five senses, especially when granulated by receptor type (as compared to lumping multiple different receptors as "taste"). The number of senses as five comes from Aristotle, who was not really an expert in human neurology.

Things like balance, body position, pain, and temperature are all well established.

Depending on how you handle the neural classification, the number of senses humans have is upwards of 20.
