Thoughts on homebrew Races?

My DM allowed me to play a homebrew race in his campaign, so I found this one that I think would be fun to use. (Not my creation) He's gonna be a hammerhead named Jawn Silver (like the fish restaurant) and he's gonna be a bard, college of swords. What do y'all think?

My Bear Totem Barbarian decided to rage and run through pools of acid to get a massive chest of Loot. The cave almost collpased on him, but he managed to escape with 30,000 gold. Unfortunately, all of his body hair burned off and he was left pockmarked and scarred.
