What are some ideas you have to improve the public education system? K-12

Of course some parents doing better jobs raising their children to be respectful. And there's of course the conversation on teachers wages but what else could be done? How do we encourage and incentivize both teacher and student?

We should put the best minds and richest people to work for society. Incentivize research and development, good treatment of workers, and contributions to society. Give them grants, tax breaks, etc. for adding value to the world in measurable ways.

Imagine if all the smartest and richest people in the world focused on something besides making making land/housing more expensive and scamming each other with blockchain technology. What do you think? (edited)
