I'm really quiet, and introverted when we first meet but I soften up and I'm awkward and ''m shy and have never really fallen in love with someone who won't rush me to do stuff and act better I  just want someone to love and understand me

My Spirit Animal When I am at the Gym

For a long time, I thought I was an INTJ because I aligned with traits like being strategic, logical, and future-focused. Almost every test I took pointed me toward INTJ. However, I always felt a disconnect—something wasn’t fully matching up. Recently, I decided to dig deeper, analyzing myself thoroughly, and realized I’m actually an ENTJ. Here’s how the journey unfolded:


Why I Initially Identified as INTJ  
1. Tests and Results: Almost every personality test I took said I was INTJ, and it made sense. INTJs are independent, logical, and visionary, all traits I resonate with.  
2. Love for Strategy: Like INTJs, I focus on the bigger picture and am constantly thinking about how to improve systems and processes.  
3. Introversion Misinterpretation: I thought I was introverted because unproductive or aimless conversations drain me. But as I explored further, I realized this wasn’t about introversion—it was about purpose. If an interaction is goal-driven, I’m energized and could go on for hours.  


Reconsidering My Personality Type  
As I explored my behavior and preferences in more depth, I started to notice traits that didn’t fully align with INTJ:  
1. Action-Oriented: While INTJs often spend time refining their plans internally before acting, I’m quick to make decisions and prefer immediate execution.  
2. Comfort in Leadership: I naturally step into leadership roles and feel energized by leading teams and bringing a vision to life. INTJs often prefer working independently and leading indirectly.  
3. Thriving in External Environments: I realized I draw energy from engaging with people when there’s a clear purpose, which is more characteristic of Extraversion than Introversion.  


The Pivot: Considering ENTJ  
To confirm whether I was more ENTJ than INTJ, I went through a detailed analysis, eliminating every MBTI type step by step. Here’s what stood out:  
1. Visionary Leadership: ENTJs thrive on leading with vision while focusing on execution. This resonated strongly with me. I enjoy creating new systems, challenging outdated methods, and focusing on long-term outcomes.  
2. Extraversion vs. Introversion: While INTJs prefer introspection, I realized I’m energized by external, productive discussions. As long as there’s a purpose, I can engage with people for hours, which aligns with ENTJ’s Extraverted Thinking (Te) dominance.  
3. Big Picture and Innovation: Both INTJs and ENTJs are strategic, but ENTJs are quicker to act. My tendency to focus on transforming systems rather than analyzing them endlessly fits ENTJ better.  


Why Not INTJ or ESTJ?  
I also explored whether I could be an ESTJ, given a recent test result. Here’s why I ruled out INTJ and ESTJ:  
1. Not INTJ: INTJs are more introspective and slower to act, often refining their ideas internally. I prefer quick, decisive action, and I enjoy engaging with others in pursuit of a shared goal.  
2. Not ESTJ: While I share ESTJ’s love for structure and efficiency, they focus more on tradition and immediate results. I lean toward ENTJ’s future-focused, innovative thinking rather than ESTJ’s grounded, present-oriented mindset.  


 The Final Realization: ENTJ  
After careful reflection, I concluded I’m an ENTJ. Here’s why it fits perfectly:  
1. Leadership and Vision: I thrive in leadership roles, focusing on both strategy and execution.  
2. Big Picture Thinking: I prioritize long-term outcomes and enjoy innovating rather than sticking to tradition.  
3. Decisive Action: I’m quick to act and prefer tangible progress over endless analysis.  
4. Extraverted Thinking: I focus on logic, structure, and goal-driven interactions, which energize me when purposeful.  


What I’ve Learned
The journey from INTJ to ENTJ taught me that personality is complex. Tests can give you a baseline, but true understanding comes from deep self-reflection. While INTJ resonated with parts of me, ENTJ reflects who I am today—a decisive, visionary leader who thrives on taking action and driving change.

It’s so sad and yet somehow ironic that I’m always the one who wants commitment, while the people I’m with are never ready to commit. They always leave, searching for a “better” option. It’s made me believe that everything in life is temporary. Love comes and goes, and maybe we just have to learn to accept it as part of life.

Does anyone else feel this way? Someone who isolates as introverts do but also wished they were more capable or had more opportunities to socialize? I dislike the fact that I fear those situations enough that I have talked myself into believing that isolation is better.

Humans have a deep need to have both a purpose and an identity in order to have long-term well-being. It seems difficult to find our individual purpose and identity because it seems they would be unique for each of us. Thankfully this isn’t the case. We all seem to have a built-in universal purpose and a universal identity. 

The universal purpose is that we all are supposed to be in good relationships with others where we help them process their emotions and help them feel emotionally safe. The universal identity is similar. It is that “I am a person who helps others process their emotions and is an emotional safe haven.” People who embrace this purpose and identity usually later report strong senses of purpose, identity and long-term well-being.
