Finally Read 1984

It was a fascinating story about the dangers of Fascism, and how propaganda and bigger powers are able to suppress the masses by targeting the individual. I was a bit hesitant because of the book's co-opting by right-wing talking heads using it as a bible, but having finally read it, I understand the book beyond its simple one-liners that depict "cancel culture" Orwell himself hated Fascists, and wrote the book as a condemnation of fascist powers and cultures, he was personally at war against them, even joining a militia and hoping to batter a fascist to death. Far from the mere nomenclature referring to internet culture's public condemnation of bad players, 1984 is actually about living on the basis of love, versus a culture of hatred. Hatred is the enemy, the restriction of language and condemnation of physical love is the real enemy, not merely government control, but the stripping of what makes us human. Color, music, gender, the book even goes as far as calling an obese woman, who has had more than a dozen children, beautiful purely for being individually unique. I've seen the terms used around alt-right positions, "thought police", 2+2=5, double-think, etc. But this entirely misses the point of the actual story, literally reducing the entire book to a few words and ideas, much like the villanous classes reduce language by stripping it of prose, turning it into newspeak. very ironic.
