Reading the sequel after 6 years from the first book

I just finished Newcomer by Keigo Higashino. Once again, he proves why I keep coming back to his stories.
What seems like a simple murder investigation slowly reveals layers of hidden emotions and quiet secrets. If you enjoy intelligent Japanese mysteries that make you think until the very last page, this one is highly recommended.

The way Kafka shows how our worth is tied to our usefulness is honestly brutal. Looking back at the story, the real tragedy isn't Gregor’s transformation at all. It’s the way his family changes, stripping away their own humanity once he’s no longer 'useful' to them.

I bought some books off of thriftbooks. I've already started reading No Longer Human. I can't wait to read them all. I still have so many books on my reading list 😌
