The North America nebula in the #sky can do what the North America continent on Earth cannot, form #stars. Specifically, in analogy to the Earth-confined continent, the bright part that appears as the east coast is actually a hot bed of gas, dust, and newly formed stars known as the Cygnus Wall.

This image shows the star forming wall lit and eroded by bright young stars and partly hidden by the dark dust they have created. The part of the North America #nebula (NGC 7000) shown spans about 50 light years and lies about 1,500 light years away toward the constellation of the Swan (Cygnus).

The North America Nebula ✨️

It's a depressing world. People are attacking each other, or themselves, or attacking each other because they attack themselves. People with more clarity about this like you and me, we can help the world. When looking at those people and ourselves, don't look at what they say, what they do. Look at their sadness beneath. Look at their dissatisfaction. Look at their grief. Look at their shame. Look at their deep belief in their unworthiness. Don't look at how they are treating each other. Look at how they have been treated when younger. Look at their wounds and cuts that they themselves can't even look at. Look at that, then you will stop seeing a depressing world. You will start seeing yourself. You will start to see the reality, a world with nothing really but crying children, demanding to be loved, demanding to love. You will see a world just about love. You will not feel lonely anymore, at least not alone when you feel so sad. You will feel more tenderness, compassion, the need to help. At least you can allow yourself and others to be, without painfully condemning them anymore. That's how you can, and often times really, should look at the world. Remind yourself, especially when you are enraged. Remind yourself. Remind me. Remind each other. We all are just a bunch of beating hearts, beating for more life, beating for more light, beating for more love. Look. Look at what we are. Don't be fooled so easily. Look deeper. Look. Look at what we are.

A Solution

Does the Moon ever engulf Mars? Yes, but only in the sense that it moves in front, which happens on rare occasions. This happened just yesterday, though, as seen from some locations in North America and western Africa. This occultation was notable not only because the #moon was a fully lit Wolf Moon, but because #mars was near its largest and brightest, moving to opposition, the closest to the Earth in its orbit, only tomorrow.

The engulfing, more formally called an occultation, typically lasting about an hour. This image was taken from near Chicago, Illinois, USA just as Earth's largest satellite was angularly moving away from the much more distant red planet. Our Moon occasionally moves in front of all of the Solar System's planets. Given the temporary alignment of orbital planes, the next time our Moon eclipses Mars will be a relatively soon February 9.

Wolf Moon Engulfs Mars 🌕

On the cosmic time scale, human #life lasts only a tiny fraction of a second.

Billions of years from now, only one of these two galaxies will remain. Until then, spiral galaxies NGC 2207 and IC 2163 will slowly pull each other apart, creating tides of matter, sheets of shocked gas, lanes of dark dust, bursts of star formation, and streams of cast-away #stars.

This image in scientifically assigned colors is a composite of Hubble exposures in visible light and Webb exposures in infrared light. Astronomers predict that NGC 2207, the larger galaxy on the right, will eventually incorporate IC 2163, the smaller galaxy on the left. In the most recent encounter that about peaked 40 million years ago, the smaller galaxy is swinging around counter-clockwise and is now slightly behind the larger galaxy. The space between stars is so vast that when galaxies collide, the stars in them usually do not collide.

Why is Polaris called the North Star? First, Polaris is the nearest bright star toward the north spin axis of the Earth. Therefore, as the Earth turns, #stars appear to revolve around Polaris, but Polaris itself always stays in the same northerly direction, making it the North Star. Since no bright star is near the south spin axis of the Earth, there is currently no bright South Star. Thousands of years ago, Earth's spin axis pointed in a slightly different direction so that Vega was the North Star.

Although Polaris is not the brightest star in the #sky, it is easily located because it is nearly aligned with two stars in the cup of the Big Dipper. Polaris is near the center of this five-degree wide image, a digital composite of hundreds of exposures that brings out faint gas and dust of the Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN) all over the frame. The surface of Cepheid Polaris slowly pulsates, causing the famous star to change its brightness by a few percent over the course of a few days.

The temperature of the lunar surface of the moon during the day gets up to 123°C, which would be enough to boil away any water, if the moon had an atmosphere like Earth's which it doesn't. And the reason that it doesn't is because the moon's gravity is so weak, just a sixth of the Earth's, which means it can't hold on to water. Plus since the moon has a very weak magnetic field there is little to protect the lunar surface from the solar wind. That is the stream of charged particles coming from the sun. These particles can blast molecules from the surface of the moon into space.
Infact that's how mars lost most of its atmosphere. Inshort if the moon ever had any water it should be long gone by now. And this seems to be confirmed by rock samples brought back by apollo astronauts which contain no hydrated minerals.
But in 2009, a very d/t picture emerged, when scientists intentionally crashed part of a rocket into the surface of the moon. It was going 2.5km/s on impact. That ejected 10,000 tons of material. That allowed cameras on an orbiting spacecraft to look for the emission lines of water in the dust. And they found that an estimate of about 5.6%of mass of the ejected debris was water.
So where did the water come from and how did it remain on the moon?
To understand this we should first look at where exactly they crashed that rocket on the moon. Although all sides of the moon receive sun light, at the poles there are some craters which due to their location, are always in shade. They are called the permanently shadowed regions. Since they never see the sun, these craters are some of the coldest places in the whole solar system. They can reach -249°C. It's here that scientists decided to crash that rocket.
But where would the water come from in the first place?
Actually there are two hypothesis about where the water came from, the first one is that from water containing asteroids and comets that have struck the moon overtime. Any water molecules that found their way into the the permanently shadowed region would be trapped there forever as ice.The other source of the water is believed to be due to the reaction between oxygen and hydrogen. The source of oxygen is easy, as oxygen makes up 45% of the lunar surface.
But where do you get the free hydrogen?
The answer is in the solar winds, which is constantly bombarding the moon's surface with protons.
