Rate the Film: 1989’s The Little Mermaid

Where would you rate The Little Mermaid? Feel free to express your thoughts and opinions. For me: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2. Not my favorite of the Disney Renaissance films but it’s in my top 5. Animation and characters are still great. The villain is a lot of fun and funny. The music from Alan Menkin is still memorable, catchy and even sung beautifully especially from Jodi Benson as Ariel. I can’t think of a ton of negative things though some may take issue with Ariel being kind of a whiny and there is a controversial split regarding Ariel relationship with Prince Eric. I don’t remember all the details, but honestly it doesn’t bother me. Plus I like how curious she is about the human world and her expressions showing it because she has no voice and she does save Eric twice.
