Max is a character from the 2020 science fiction comedy series "Avenue 5," created by Armando Iannucci. The show is set in the near future, where space tourism has become a reality, and follows the crew and passengers of the Avenue 5, a luxury space cruise ship. The series blends humor with science fiction elements, showcasing the chaos that ensues when the vessel faces unexpected challenges during its voyage. In this context, Max serves as an important character who adds depth and comedic relief to the story.

Portrayed by actor Zach Woods, Max is introduced as the ship's head of customer relations. His role is crucial as he is responsible for addressing the needs and concerns of the ship's wealthy passengers, who are depicted as being both excited and clueless about the realities of space travel. Despite the insistent demands of passengers accustomed to luxury, Max often finds himself in absurd and comedic situations, emphasizing the disparity between the glamorous expectations of space travel and the practical challenges that arise during the journey.

As the series progresses, Max's character is revealed to be more than just a facilitator of customer service; he showcases various emotional layers that resonate with audiences. His interactions often highlight his anxiety and insecurity in the face of increasingly chaotic circumstances aboard the Avenue 5. These attributes make him relatable, despite being surrounded by eccentric passengers and crew members, and provide a humorous commentary on human behaviors in high-stress environments.

Max's character plays a pivotal role in the series, as he navigates the complexities of interpersonal relationships, all while trying to maintain a veneer of professionalism in a decidedly unprofessional situation. His journey throughout the series underscores themes of resilience and adaptability, making him a memorable character amid the comedic chaos of "Avenue 5." While his primary role serves the comedic elements of the show, it also raises deeper questions about the nature of responsibility and leadership in times of crisis.
