Bill McKinney was an American actor famously known for his southern drawl and his intimidating presence on screen. Born on September 12, 1931, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, McKinney began his career as a stuntman before becoming an actor. He was a prolific character actor who appeared in over 150 films and television shows during his career, leaving a lasting impact on the entertainment industry. After serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War, McKinney attended the Pasadena Playhouse in California, where he developed his acting skills. He made his film debut in the 1967 western television series “The High Chaparral” and went on to appear in notable films such as “Deliverance” (1972), “The Outlaw Josey Wales” (1976), and “First Blood” (1982) among many others. His rugged and tough demeanor often landed him roles as a villain, such as in “Deliverance,” where he played the menacing mountain man who sexually assaults one of the main characters. In addition to his acting career, McKinney also worked as a voice actor and appeared in numerous video games, including “The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction” (2005) and “Call of Duty: Black Ops” (2010). He was also a guest star on popular television shows such as “The A-Team” and “Baywatch”. McKinney passed away on December 1, 2011, at the age of 80 due to complications from lung cancer. He is remembered as a talented and versatile actor who brought life to some of cinema’s most memorable characters.
