Jack Wild

Jack Wild Bio

Jack Wild was a British actor and singer born on September 30, 1952, in Royton, Lancashire, England. He had a passion for acting and started his career in the entertainment industry at a young age, becoming a famous child star in the 1960s. Wild was best known for his role as the Artful Dodger in the Academy Award-Winning musical film "Oliver!" (1968). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the Artful Dodger. Wild's acting career began when he was spotted by a talent scout at the age of 12. This led him to be cast as a regular in the television series "Orlando" in 1966. His performance on the show gained him widespread attention and opened doors for a variety of roles. Following his success on "Orlando," Wild was cast as the Artful Dodger opposite Ron Moody in "Oliver!" The film became a box office success and Wild's performance was widely praised. He later reprised his role as the Artful Dodger in the short-lived stage musical version of the film. Apart from acting, Wild also pursued a music career. He released several albums and singles during the 1970s, but his ventures into the music industry were not as successful as his acting career. Throughout his life, Wild battled alcoholism and made several attempts at recovering from addiction. Despite this, he continued to work in the entertainment industry and had several notable appearances in movies and TV shows. Wild passed away on March 1, 2006, after a battle with oral cancer. He left behind a legacy as one of the most talented child actors of his generation and paved the way for future actors to follow in his footsteps.
