You can see the cubic crystal faces on it. Uraninite is a uranium dioxide mineral UO2. From Fission mine Ontario Canada ☢️. Fission mine was operated in 1922 by a Radium corporation for cancer treatment. In the 1940s it became a uranium mine supplying the Manhattan project for world war 2.

Pure uranium ore
Uraninite crystal from the Fission mine in Ontario Canada weight is 165 grams very strongly radioactive ☢️ 468,000 counts per minute at contact with an alpha window. Dose rate per hour is very high do not recommend handling for longer than 5 minutes.

Museum quality uraninite crystals from the Fission mine Ontario Canada strongly radioactive ☢️ beautiful specimen I rarely handle it. Uraninite is a uranium oxide mineral UO2 it forms crystals like this in granitic pegmatites. Matrix is feldspar and apatite. 790 grams over 10 cm.
