On This Day in History - July 17, 1918
July 17, 1918 #OTD By order of the Bolshevik Party and carried out by the Cheka, former tsar Nicholas II of Russia and his wife Alexandra Feodorovna were shot dead at the Ipatiev House in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Also murdered were their children Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei. The royal family's physician Eugene Botkin, maid Anna Demidova, footman Alexei Trupp, and cook Ivan Kharitonov were also killed.
