On This Day in History - July 14, 1941
July 14, 1941 #OTD World War II: The British troopship MV Georgic (Pictured) was bombed in the Gulf of Suez with the loss of 26 lives and beached. After being refloated and extensively rebuilt, she returned to service as a troopship in 1944, and continued in service for both for military and civilian uses until 1956, when she was withdrawn from service and scrapped. The MV Georgic was the last ship built for the White Star Line before its merger with Cunard Line. Built at Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, she was the running mate of MV Britannic. Like Britannic, Georgic was a motorship, and not a steamer, fitted with a diesel powerplant. At the time of her launch in 1931, she was the largest British motorship.

The Death of the Pharaoh's Firstborn Son.
This painting by Lawrence Tadema is honestly an amazing piece, it depicts the aftermath of the plagues visited upon Egypt during the Book of Exodus. The 9/11 story of Edna Cintron aka “The Waving Woman”
I’ve had a fascination with 9/11 for as long as I can remember and have done countless hours of research on it. Nothing haunts me more than the story of Edna Cintron though. Edna was was a 46 year old woman who worked on the 93rd floor of WTC Tower 1 on 9/11. She is the only known identified... read more

The Great Meteor Shower of 1833 💫✨️☄️
It was a night of 100,000 meteors. The Great Meteor Storm of 1833 was perhaps the most impressive meteor event in recent history. The first usage of the Arabic numerals in Europe!
In this manuscript from 1202 you can see the very first time the Arabic numerals were used in Europe, in a work by Fibonacci. A century later, they had almost completely replaced the roman ones, and 800 years later we still use them every day! #culture #numbers #history #classics #knowledge (edited)
