August 14, 1945 OTD World War II: In Hue, Annam, French Indochina, Emperor Bao Dai (Pictured) tore up the treaties signed with the French in 1862 and 1874 and reclaimed Cochinchina as Vietnamese sovereign territory.

On This Day in History - March 20, 1934

March 20, 1934 OTD Emperor Bao Dai married Marie-Thérèse Nguyen Huu Thi Lan, a commonor from a wealthy Vietnamese family, in the Imperial City in Hue, Annam, French Indochina. She was renamed Nam Phuong upon the marriage. She would pass away on September 16, 1963 aged 49 from a heart attack.

The market is in the center of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Total area is 13,056 meter squares. It's 100 year old with a unique Indochina design. Since the building was constructed around the time of the French Colonial Era, the building holds strong French influence.

On This Day in History - December 3, 1941

December 3, 1941 #OTD World War II: US PBY Catalina patrol aircraft (Pictured) reported 30 Japanese transports congregating in Cam Ranh Bay off Indochina, 10 more than the previous day. Meanwhile, a Japanese fleet departed Hainan Island in southern China for Thailand.

December 2, 1941 #OTD World War II: President Franklin D. Roosevelt (Pictured) sent Japan a request for an explanation for the heavy Japanese troop concentrations in French Indochina, exceeding the 25,000 agreed upon between Tokyo and Vichy France.
