Not dead, just more diverse than it used to be. You ask the common person their favourite punk band they might say The Sex Pistols or The Ramones, maybe the Misfits or even a pop punk band like Blink-182. And there's nothing wrong with these answers but if you ask a punk what their favourite punk band is and you could get some amazing bands still making music that you've never heard of like Sincere Engineer, The Menzingers, Pup, RVIVR, Jeff Rosenstock or Iron Chic. Or even some older bands that people missed out on because they weren't mainstream enough like Fugazi, Jawbreaker, Descendants, some of whom are still touring or their members are involved in newer projects. Punks not dead, it's thriving, you've just gotta know where to look for the good stuff.
