The water bottle conundrum

You have six 2L water bottles you can fill at a fountain. The problem is the fountain is very low to the ground and in order to fill a bottle you have to lay it almost horizontally, so once 1L is in, it will overflow. The fountain stands on solid stone. How much water can you collect?
