Just a few photos of Moxie, the boy I am getting tattooed on my shoulder. Normally, this species is "known for being mean and nippy", but I've been working with Moxie since he was a tiny hatchling and he has been doing amazing. 

The breeder also said the parents were naturally chill and curious and that their babies often were also similar in that manner, so it seems to be holding true so far! He was a bit shy as a baby and would try to give little warning nips, but he's doing incredible now and has finally begun exploring his enclosure. 

His most recent shed was at least 3ft long! I am so proud of him and his progress ❤️

First Eggs of the year!

Long Story short... Moxie, my Malaysian Cave Dweller, managed to escape his enclosure and I was praying and praying and crying hoping to find him until I promised the universe to get a gratitude tattoo if it would bring him back to me unharmed. 

He's been back for a while and only had a small little injury on his back (which has completely healed now). 

Tattoo is gonna take another session to finish, but I'm super happy with what I've got so far!

Oh my Gosh, I think I missed their first lock because I was expecting at least a few more weeks before the eggs came but AAAAA! I'm so excited!

I am so proud of this girl! I've had her for maybe almost two years now and she's almost ready to breed! I am super excited and she is just so healthy and strong and full of muscle 🤩🥰

I try really hard to make sure my animals have good muscle tone and body condition to avoid the growing problem of obesity in the reptile community. Nothing makes me happier than handling my snakes and feeling how strong they are (compared to an obese snake that sometimes has no muscle and is just... Like a floppy rope).

Give Me Those Babies!

Heading down to Snake Road in the Shawnee Nat’l Forest, far southern Illinois next month. Looking for like minded, marginally crazy hikers. It’s this crazy convergence or overlap of prime snake habitat. Twice yearly 23 species (3 venomous) migrate off the Pine Hiils limestone cliffs across FS road 345, otherwise known as Snake Road into the La Rue swamp. 2.5 miles of road closed biannually to protect these darlings from our cars. 65% of the citings are Cottonmouths, but yeah, throw in Copperheads & Timber Rattlers and 20 other non venomous species for good measure. Plan on hiking near the Garden of the Gods in the morning, and hitting Snake Road in the afternoon. This is my maiden voyage to Snake Road, but doing my research. My go to hiking Groups are no goes to the idea. Bummer…for them.

Snake Road pilgrimage

This was a few years ago, but my fiance and I got to go to Save The Snakes in Sacramento and take their Level 1 Venomous Snake Handling Course. It was absolutely amazing and I even have a certificate that says I passed the class! 

We learned so much and later got to hold this beast of a rattler in the picture (of course, he is tubed so it is safe). 

Man, the strength and speed of a rattlesnakes tail as it rattles is insane! It feels like it is vibrating.

I thought since Sherlock was entertaining for those who saw the post I made with the pendant, why not introduce the rest of my snakes! I have 9 snakes in total and I adore them all to bits!!

Yes Castiel was named for Castiel in supernatural, specifically the first appearance of him being literal while completely oblivious and smart like a bag of hammers. Theyre both doing their best 😂
