What 16 personality type is John?

John from the 1990 film adaptation of "Lord of the Flies" can be analyzed as an ESTJ (Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging) personality type. This manifests in his assertive and decisive nature, with a focus on maintaining order and structure among the boys on the island.

As an Extraverted individual, John thrives in social situations and often takes charge, displaying leadership qualities that drive the group dynamics. His Sensing trait allows him to be grounded in reality, focusing on practical solutions to immediate problems rather than abstract theories. This is evident in his ability to assess the environment and organize resources effectively.

John's Thinking side prioritizes logic and objective decision-making, often driving him to prioritize rules and authority over emotional considerations. He sees the necessity of establishing leadership and moving the group towards a unified purpose, which reflects his Judging nature. He prefers a systematic approach and works towards achieving goals, often leading to conflicts with other characters who may advocate for a more impulsive or emotional response.

Overall, John's ESTJ personality type is characterized by a strong desire for power and control, reflecting the struggle between order and chaos on the island. His leadership style embodies the tension between civilization and savagery, ultimately demonstrating that a rigid adherence to structure can sometimes lead to destructive outcomes.

Which Enneagram Type is John?

In the 1990 film "Lord of the Flies," the character Jack can be categorized as a Type 8 on the Enneagram, likely 8w7. This wing manifests in his personality through a blend of assertiveness, desire for control, and a tendency toward impulsivity.

As a Type 8, Jack showcases a dominant, confrontational nature, driven by a need for power and autonomy. His leadership style exhibits a clear desire to establish authority over the other boys, often resorting to intimidation and aggression to maintain control. This aligns with the fierce independence and resilience typically associated with Type 8s.

The influence of the 7 wing adds a layer of charisma and desire for stimulation. Jack is not only commanding but also seeks excitement and adventure, as shown through his enthusiasm for hunting and engaging in primal activities. This blend creates a character who is both compelling and volatile, drawing others in while simultaneously fostering a chaotic environment.

Ultimately, Jack's 8w7 personality underscores the tension between power and chaos, emphasizing how a quest for dominance can lead to moral degradation and savagery in extreme circumstances.
