Known for his exceptional speed, agility, and elusive running style, Sayers became a household name during his career with the Chicago Bears from 1965 to 1971. Despite playing only seven seasons due to injuries, Sayers established himself as one of the most electrifying players in the league's history, earning him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Sayers attended the University of Kansas, where he honed his skills as a running back. He gained national recognition as a member of the KU Jayhawks by earning All-American honors in 1963 and 1964. His incredible college career paved the way for his selection as the fourth overall pick in the 1965 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Sayers wasted no time making an impact, earning the nickname "The Kansas Comet" for his explosive playmaking abilities. During his rookie season in 1965, Sayers immediately showcased his talent by setting a record for the most rushing touchdowns in a single game with six, earning him NFL Rookie of the Year honors.
