Childhood Community

I admit that I still get sad, even a little, when a certain thought visits my mind. It’s the thought that I never had the chance to kiss my childhood goodbye. I was just enjoying life and having the time of my life with the people I used to play with and talk about my dreams in life with. I remember that I was that person full of hope, but the next thing I know, I am already a grownup just trying my best each day to survive in the complexity of this adult life. I wasn’t ready for this, and no one is. They say that somehow it is important to have closure if you are going to part ways with someone. Maybe the reason most of us are still attached to the idea of wanting to be just like a child with less stress, worries, and responsibilities is because we never had proper closure with our childhood. Sometimes, even the memories that we had during those years of our childhood haunt us. Nevertheless, even if we didn’t get the chance to bid goodbye to our childhood, I hope that we will have the chance now to make our younger selves proud and happy for whatever we are and will become. To my younger self, I hope you are happy and proud of me regardless of the things that changed and dreams we were unable to make into reality.
