Venus Flytraps

I decided to buy my first carnivorous plant the (Dionaea Muscipula) or Venus Fly Trap. The cultivar I chose is the B-52 cultivar which is one of the largest cultivars of fly traps they also grow many traps which is an insects worst nightmare. I am so intrigued as it was only day 6 and I could see small traps growing already. One trap was also able to trap a small insect to sustain nutrients for the whole plant. My Findings: Flytraps don't like water that has minerals in them. They prefer pure water like distilled, rainwater, or reverse osmosis water. I used a TDS meter to test if tap/purified water was good enough, sadly I got 90~100 ppm of TDS from our water. The max acceptable range according to Kuya Brynt from Pet Plants Ph is 70 ppm. So to reduce risks of killing my VFT I decided to purchase distilled water, which I get 2~6 ppm. I believe the lower ppm the better, as fly traps get the minerals from other water like tap/mineral/purified water the minerals could get clogged on their stem and kill them. These plants require special soil as well e.g spaghnum moss with perlite. Where I got my VFT? If you live in the Philippines I was able to purchase mine on Shopee. Kuya Brynt is a legit seller, and he has other cultivars and many other carnivorous plants like nepentheses (pitcher plant). Not only that he also has care and propagation guides for the plants on youtube! Shopee store ID: Pet Plants Philippines. Yt: It's a trap by Kuya Brynt
