The Paradox of Morality

Perhaps Dr. Gye represents the paradox of moral absolutism in an intrinsically corrupt world. where preserving one's principles becomes a more radical act than challenging the establishment itself. Not every compelling female protagonist needs to be softened for the audience's approval. Gye… (edited) read more

Human nature

“The veneer of civilization is very thin” -Margaret Thatcher Going by the Veneer Theory, “civilization, morality, and law are merely a thin, superficial layer masking an inherently selfish, violent, and savage human nature.” Yet, Steven Pinker (The Better Angels of Our Nature) tells us that we’ve… read more

Education and Morality

Education and morality should go together!

I simply don’t want to get involved in situations that don’t align with my personal values and sense of morality.

🙏🏻 I respect everyone’s choices between consenting adults, I respect everyone’s right to live according to their own values. So I prefer to keep my boundaries clear and avoid situations that don’t feel right for me. I kindly choose not to accept requests from people who are separated, in open… read more

Journey to Shelly Cove and back

Today, I rode my trike for about 21.5km and walked/hiked for about 2.5km. I actually thought I might skip my ride today due to forecast of possible rain, but I saw there was no cloud over the parts of my city I was planning to go, so I thought I'd be okay. Turned out I was right. It was an… read more

Am I good or bad?

There are times I question my own morality. I have harm related intrusive thoughts and distressing images that suddenly pops on my mind. I don't want to hurt people so I avoided socializing...

In our modern world, do you think religions are a good thing or a bad thing?

There is morality in them, but each one also has some commandments that I find very twisted, especially in modern times. What do you guys think? (edited)

Equality vs Equity

I watch the whatever podcast and what often comes up is whats right, like chivalry, and why it should or shouldn't be done anymore. The argument for it was found to be because of equity. Women are disadvantaged or weaker compared to men so they believe they deserve the equitable contribution to… read more

Morality

What guides your everyday action?

Morality.

I didn't seem to feel emotions the way other kids seemed to. Or maybe I did but they were faint. Too weak to shape my decisions or stop me from doing something. Other kids seemed to have an emotional compass. Mine was more like a loose needle spinning until it pointed toward whatever made the most… read more

“The difference between good and evil is often rooted in conviction — but conviction alone does not make something good.”

History is full of people who believed deeply in completely opposite things. Conviction gives people certainty, purpose, and resolve, but morality is usually judged not only by belief, but also by consequences, empathy, justice, and how actions affect others. A person can be sincere and still be… read more

Why an Anti-Narcissist Culture Would Need to be Heavily Reliant on Bottom-Up Processing.

Top-down processing is a cognitive style where a person starts with a belief, assumption, narrative, or framework and then interprets new information through that lens. It filters perception, memory, and judgment through what is already expected or already believed. When people use it for judging… read more

Pro tip for spotting manipulative sociopaths

Whenever someone points out an existential enemy, be it just 1 person or an entire country, follow that finger back to the source and check that person's morality, if they are a good and honest person there may be credence to their pointing (but remain agnostic and open-minded and verify for… (edited) read more

Morals

Do you believe that morality exists outside of humanity why or why not?

Everyone doing it flaw reasoning

Yes. That exchange exposes one of the oldest shortcuts in human thinking. “Everyone is doing it” is not a reason. It is a surrender of responsibility. When you respond with: > “So if everyone does it, you’ll do it too?” “If all people act this way, does humanity survive?” you are applying… read more

Love Letter to Dark Souls (a 15 minute ramble essay)

Legend of Zelda was such an important game series for me as an over thinker who always wanted to know the right thing to do. The world of Zelda provided clear answers and unquestioned objective morality. It gave me a mission. It gave me landmarks. It gave me a compass. It said, go here and do this.… read more

Not a single thought of morality while defending bro

These words come back to my mind every time I use this app; everyone should read them.. The paradox of our time,George Carlin

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less… read more

Today realization part 2

Continuation

Yes. That question is a silent hammer. It breaks doctrines not by force, but by forcing consistency. “If you were God, what would you do to the world?” is dangerous to religion because it shifts the frame from submission to evaluation. Let’s see why. --- 1. It replaces obedience with moral… read more

The saddest part of dating nowadays

We have to request individuals for non-negotiables like Honesty and Loyalty. Things like this should never have to be asked for it's a non-negotiable for a reason. You do it because it's morally correct, we face a huge morality problem now a days where individuals feel it's optional. (edited)

Saying NO
