The philosophy community, chat, and discussion. Meet new people.

621K SOULS

Hello, thinkers and wonderers! If you're intrigued by the big questions that have puzzled humanity for ages, you've found your intellectual home. This is a space that not only encourages but thrives on meaningful discussion around topics like existentialism, ethics and morality, the philosophy of mind, and the enduring works of ancient philosophers. We delve deep, not just skimming the surface, but exploring the underlying principles and abstract theories that can both boggle the mind and illuminate the soul. Whether you're a seasoned reader of philosophy books or just stepping into this profound realm, this community is designed for you. But our conversations here go beyond theoretical musings. In a world often driven by material pursuits and fleeting distractions, philosophy serves as a grounding force. It pushes us to consider the ethical implications of our choices, challenges us to seek coherence in our belief systems, and encourages us to connect with our deeper selves. If you're pondering existential questions, wrestling with ethical dilemmas, or dissecting theories of consciousness and self, this is your forum for unraveling those complexities. So, whether you're a student of philosophy, a professional philosopher, or simply a curious individual captivated by life's ultimate questions, you're welcome here. Let's explore these mind-bending topics together, sharpen our critical thinking skills, and perhaps even inch closer to a greater understanding of life itself. With every discussion, we enrich not just our intellectual understanding, but also deepen our emotional and spiritual perspectives.

Question❓

Imagine you're standing on a sea shore, and on a distance you see a ship that is saling by. At the time when the ship started saling from it's original port , which took years for the ship to reach to where it's at right now. In that time alot of wood got rotten and had to be replaced due to time and salty water and rough seas. So much of it had to be replaced that the design of the ship is now different than the original one. What do you think about the ship, is it the same ship that you are seeing or a new ship? Or something else. Also why you think that way.

Integrity?

Show me who has integrity. I dare you. I spent my life staring at those who cut corners, lie, favor, possess ill-gotten knowledge, backbite, cheat, steal, and worse of all feign their righteousness all behind a false mask. And what's worse all praised behind a spineless mob. I have yet to meet anyone who truly has integrity. If you know such a person let me know. We are all drowning in a sea of hypocrisy. We live in a childish world where we brush off sincerity with mindless quips.

Question of the day

Do you believe that in the near future incestous relationships(using protection obviously) will get as much social acceptance as homosexuality has got nowadays?

What is Love?

I actually mean the "Love" in the Boo app because I don't know what it does. I asked Copilot what it did but it told me that it unlocks premium-like features and I'm like,no way. Also I don't know where else to put this so here it is.

Does anyone else contemplate their death?

I'm not suicidal. At least not emotionally. But i find myseld frequwntly debating withmyself as to why it's an option or why I should. Alot of people will say it's not the answer but alot of people also don't know what alot of people are dealing with either. I think. As a fairly sane and logically thinking mind if I can come uo with more reason to do it then not then it should be allowed. It is after all. My life. I'm not harming others. I don't want to die. I don't want to stop experiencing life and nature but the way society is. I can't live. In nature in the laws of nature. Sure absolutely. But operating within the laws of man... 3 years and I just keep digging that hole deeper. At what point is it deep enough that I can just lay down, accept fate. And stop digging.

Agriculture is far less sustainable than Animal husbandry and far more detrimental to the world + more.

The issue of Agriculture includes the annual destruction of million acres of forests to make way for it, destroying entire ecosystems of natural plant-life, bugs, critters, birds and other animals. The loss of trees are far more detrimental to our environment than oil, as trees consume carbon and produce oxygen. Monsanto and other GMO's are terrible bad for the soil, the plants are sprayed with Glyphosate which isn't just bad for the environment, but also extremely bad for our health. These pesticides contaminates the ground-water which eventually will find their way to fresh-water lakes, poisoning the local wild-life, like frogs, fish, insects and other Animals and even people. The number one resource of fertilizers are cow-dung, which get recycled from Animal husbandry. Remove husbandry and we have a shortage of soil fertilizers. But the fertilizers also contains large amounts of Nitrogen and phosphorus which also makes it's way into the lakes, introducing industrial quanties into eco-systems that can't handle it. Even if you replaced cow-dung, the replacement would remain as detrimental to the natural world. "Lab-Grown Meat" Still need husbandry to function, they need pregnant cows, and then kill the pregnant cow as a part of the process, which are insanely expensive, you and I will never be able to afford it. Even if all the billions of people decided to become self-sufficient, start growing their own food, they moving out of the cities would just introduce new environmental problems, because we still need to build a house to live in, farm and EAT. I got so tired of reading Leftist studies on this, considering they have to insert "Racism" into literally everything... It's almost like a virtue-signalling mind-disease. But the only conclusion is to kill off 80% of the Global solution, or destroy the world. Only Europeans seem willing to kill themselves, so nothing will change, famines will take place regardless. But do not believe ending husbandry will change anything, it will only increase the need for industrial farming.

Do not say "I can't"..

When what you mean is "I can't be bothered". "I don't want to" or "I won't" may be cruel but at least they're honest. No one benefits from a lie. Social convenience isn't.

Definition of nothing

Here we find ourselves in a world of description. One where we confine ourselves to words and labels. Yet if we take a step back and turn from the inner reflection of who we are and who we expect, we may find that as those expectations of ourselves and the ones we love only limits the possibilities of who we could become. For when we truly define ourselves and those around us as "nothing" we can tuly become something. Who we were ment to be.

Fading facade

The propensity of ones self hatered is clandestine behind a facade of courage and capability, but what most fail to realize is that if one was to believe in said facade enough. The propensity of ones self hatered will diminish into that of something that is no longer a facade, but a mere thought thats been brought to life.
