Life of a DM

When you casually say: “ Hey, what if we tried a horror campaign with a creepy fog and snobby vampire lords” And now it’s 3:17am, your browser has 12 tabs open, and you’re: writing a regional dread map, inventing a fog that eats memories, designing monsters with feelings, and outlining trauma arcs… read more

I've gone through probably a couple hundred eggs since I started working on filling the Regional Dexes in Home but I think this is the second shiny I've hatched (caught one in the wild too so I'm not sure of the count)

She didn't do anything wrong, and neither has the… read more

Late Son Part 9

The Boat at Night The river was dark enough that night felt earned. When the boat came, it did not announce itself. No lights. No greeting. It moved against the current, slowly and badly, as though whoever was guiding it had chosen direction over sense. Steven heard it before he saw it—the wrong… read more

Silencing the Drums of War: Restoring Ukhuwwah and Islamic Sovereignty

The escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan are a deep wound in the body of the Muslim Ummah. There was that one time in the past when I tried to explain to a regional manager why I'm so naturally afraid of her.

How do I ever say this without talking about trauma and alcoholic parents? Any ideas if I ever encounter a similar situation?

Did you have a regional urban legend growing up? If so, what was it?

In my case, it's relatively well-known. I grew up a stone's throw away from the pine barrens and I used to hear stories about the Jersey devil at every campfire. That being said, I know the world has an interesting array of folklore and urban legends. What was yours if you had one?
