Would you buy into "full dive?" Why or why not?

Full dive technology is a fictional tech that would allow you to basically experience the virtual game world as your character. There are different levels of it; see: Sword Art Online and Ready Player One (Ready Player Two book also has an interesting adaptation)

Where to start?

I'm not sure if there's a "cheap" or "less expensive" way to try out VR before investing in the higher end rigs. Like, would a phone vr headset make for a trial of the VR experience? Idk much about VR so any and all advice/recommendations will be considered.

Does anyone know good VR-Desktop games?

I'd like to play a game with my friends where there's the VR users (typically a very large character) and then the desktop users (quite small) - and there's maybe an element of PvP or hide and seek where its desktop vs the vr player.
