Masashi Kishimoto the writer of Naruto, quoted the white eye color of the Hyuga clan are inspired from the victims of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, which caused mutilation in World War Il. By saying that their eyesight has become weak Kishimoto, he gave the characters the best eyesight and Byakugan, which has the ability to see from thousands of kilometers and see behind things. I think things like this are cool as well. Astro Boy was created for similar but very different reasons. It was due to the atomic bombs as well, but Astro was created to show the good side of atomic power (by him being explicitly atomic powered and doing heroic acts)
