I have meet wonderful people online however the internet a whole has opened the flood gates to the worst of humanity. It has done more harm than good.

I would opt for neither. It tends to be used as a tool by the individual for whatever preference they already had. Introverts use it as a way to avoid contact and at times connection. Extroverts will use it as a means to forge new connections.

I see it as an U shaped curve where both ends are isolation - with technology and without technology,  while the outermost point of curve is connected. Underuse and overuse both lead to isolation.

It served great purpose to connect minds that tend to be at the edges of society, having higher difficulty it was a barrier for average users, so we thrived, intelligent minds finding each other. Then all people started using it, while not even beneficial for them or how they would be happy, just normal interactions in real life. And flooding the whole thing with idiocracy and ignorance, and not adding only cycling the same content, led to how sad the current state is
