Playing a divination Wizard for the first time
Im usually a barbarian or fighter player in DND, im looking for any advice for my wizard. Im playing him to be an informant with most of his spells being focused around gathering information (so i already have every divination spell i can get currently). The party is level 5 and while im not weak i know i could be better so im asking for any advice on spell combos or really anything, thanks!

The job of a Divination Wizard is to use knowledge and preparation to reshape any battlefield to give the party a decisive advantage. This is, more generally, what any non-artillerist wizard SHOULD be doing, but it's absolutely the archetype that Divinators fulfill. To that end, at the level you're at the Web spell is your friend. Lightly obscuring a 20' square area and creating difficult terrain is already a great start in terms of battlefield control, but if you drop the web on someone and they don't GTFO, next turn you can light the web on fire with a cantrip. Or, since you're 5th level, a Fireball. Suddenly 8d6 damage is now 8d6 + 2d4 (or 4d6 + 2d4 if they make the save; the 2d4 is not halved as its caused by the Web spell separately). For an additional 3rd level spell, if you have access to Xanathar's I personally recommend Wall of Sand. A 30' long, 10' wide line that blocks LoS, triples movement costs, AND blinds anyone in its space is, frankly, evil. You can plug an entire corridor with that and suddenly the BBEG has been denied reinforcements from that area. You can set it between your party and an enemy party in order to give y'all some breathing space and reposition. At higher levels other Wall spells become just as useful. I'll go first. We befriended and owlbear who wanted to kill our party and made him our pet ally, transitioned whole city and 4 enemy goblins into our cleric's religion (which was basically religion where he was central figure xd).
