Why is it that arguing about something you care about with someone you love, bittersweet?

Apporaching people IRL just doesnt seem like an option anymore. Either she' already taken, she's gay, or she thinks youre trying to harass her. So I try dating apps instead. I've been on a few apps for a while now and honestly I don't know if I should keep trying. Every match I've ever gotten has been on any app has been a few good words and then I get ghosted. OR I match up, try to talk, they don't respond for several days and then they unmatch. If people are just going to match with you and not say or do anything the what is the point of even trying? If anyone has found any success on here or anywhere else, I'd like to know your thoughts.

though during high school I yearned for it but was chubby nerd so didn't had chance, and to mention low self esteem.
