What if we wiewed relationships as friendships

Whaat if

I know that I always saw love a bit differently, and until someone really explained it I was of the understanding that it just didn't work socially. But as I've sorta existed in this state and had more time to think about it- I came to learn that's just plain wrong (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be saying any of this). It's a interesting predicament, to be something you don't understand, even actively disregarding.

Time to throw something into the wild: What do you think people get wrong about being poly, especially if they just discovered that aspect about themselve?

With no shame to anybody, it feels very odd being poly but also not being, say, very active in kink or in some kind of political extremism. I feel like the odd duckling. I don't need those kinds of things in my life necessarily, but also I just like people too much to be mono.

So my partner and I have had a few failed attempts at dating over the last year, both together and separate...we prefer kitchen table becauseits what works best for us but is not a requirement..but they have shown me what I need out of another partner. And I would like honest opinion on what I have on my profile and I will explain the reasonings I have them, ive been told they are unrealistic.

Rules I have for dating new partners
* They must have a stable living situation (bonus points if you can host overnights)
* Must have their own consistent means of transportation 
* Have a stable job of some sort
* (If relevant) have a stable childcare situation 
* (If relevant) the child should be a mostly separate part as I do not want to be in a parental role until the relationship is stable.

My nesting partner has a very low social battery and we dont have space for everyone to be in separate areas.
I was stuck doing all the driving, picking them up and bringing them home, I dont mind once in a while, but it takes its toll.
I cannot sustain paying all my bills and the monetary demands of another, I can help now and then, but until we live together, your bills are yours and mine are mine.
Quite simple, when we go out, my nesting partner and parents are not free daycare.
And finally, I love kids, but I dont want to grow attached to them or them attached to me while we are still figuring how things work and if we are going to work.

A question for the masses

We haven't been on here lately because we met a woman a while back. We both like her but aren't sure how to ask if she'd be interested in a poly ship with us.she likes us, possibly liking Jenny more than me (which I'm fine with) and she supports the LGBT+ community, but she isn't great at giving straight answers when we hint at dating her. I don't think she's doing it as a dodge, she does that with any conversation lol

On one hand poly has a potential to have a lot of love in one's life, but on the other hand if you have just a secondary partner who lives elsewhere,  its not enough human contact to meet emotional connection needs. Trying to find a primary partner who poly can be increasingly harder. But you don't want to give up on your secondary partner even though they can't give more time together.

Is poly a double edge sword?

My fiance and I have recently decided to open our relationship to a third person.  We have been open to it for years, but our match has eluded us.  Now we are actively looking and her family is in an uproar.  She was married to a woman for over 10 years before they divorced, but she has now been with me for over 15 years.  It isn't like being with a man for a long time made her not miss being with a woman.  So instead of her stepping out on me, we just decided to share a girlfriendif we can ever find one that can handle us.  The concept of a thrupple isn't new.  There have been many successful, stable, multiperson relationships.  With love and trust mixed with open honest communication, it doesn't matter if there are 2 or 3.  Maybe even 4 or 5.... As long as everyone is an equal part, why does it matter to anyone else?  We hope we eventually find our missing puzzle piece and we also hope you all find what you are looking for.

What is so hard to understand?

Old friends? On and off relations? A new flame? A coworker? How did you end up meeting the ones who joined your polycule? How difficult was it to get them to swallow the idea of polyamory or were they already amenable to the idea? How do your families take to the idea? Just seeing what people have to say.

How did you meet the third in your thruples?

Is it a particular hobby, mannerisms, intelligence and so on. Im curious if there is a common thread besides open communication.

What attracts you the most with new potential partners?

I need friends in our community to talk to and swap stories that only we would understand. I'm not even looking to date, I'm set, but friends? Get over here! 😅😁

We had our third kid in October and have been focusing on him.

We also made a new friend who's fun to be around.

I've also been working on some new puppets and drawings while Jenny's been trying to get some crochet projects done.
