Polyamorous LDR and romantic love?

I live in a small, rural town, really conservative and I don't quite fit in but for many reasons, I don't want to move. I also don't want anyone moving in with me, ever (solo poly). But I also want a romantic connection, to fall in love with someone who understands me and loves me back. (Currently I have a best friend with benefits. He's wonderful but his feelings for me are affectionate, not romantic.) So I'm considering whether a long distance relationship would be a good option for me. My concerns would be that most people seeking a LTR probably just want it to be casual and also it's hard to form an initial bond without frequent contact. Anyone have an example of it working in the absence of any intention to move in together in the future?

Boundaries between relationships

Being new to ENM / polyamory / open relationships / whatever label you prefer, I'd like to hear how other people 'manage' their relationships. Do you keep all your relationships seperate? Or do you talk about your other relationships with your partners? And if you do, are their any boundaries you've set for yourself about what is appropriate to talk about and what not? I know about compersion, and it seems like that is only possible if you speak openly about your relationships, but then I wonder if that blurs the lines between the different relationships... Similarly, if you're having a hard time in a certain relationship, would you discuss this with another partner?
