Which is harder 3 words to say?

I've often commented to others that I rarely hear people saying "I forgive you" in response to "I am sorry", usually saying something like "That's ok", "Don't worry about it", or "No worries" instead, because these phrases lack vulnerability and provide no closure. I just came across an article that compares the difficulty of saying "I love you" and "I am sorry". I've added "I forgive you" to this poll. https://www.yourtango.com/love/why-is-it-so-hard-to-say-i-am-sorry

I love you

I am sorry (I was wrong, Please forgive me)

I forgive you is definitely the hardest. For minor transgressions.. "No worries" works fine. I'm not going to say.. I forgive you to coworkers/employees/folks in line at the supermarket. And if it's a more serious transgression it takes more than an apology for forgiveness. I also am of the opinion that one doesn't always need to give forgiveness in order to achieve closure

@Erik It was supposed to go to what Melissa's last 2 sentences said. But now that I think about it🤔 I would love to have a shirt saying i forgive you. But only on the back. You know.. for the ppl who gossip and talk behind others backs. That would be great. 😆

I haven't had an issue saying any of these phrases. I have compassion for those who do. Definitely shines light on something within that's gonna have a field day with the person later on in life if not addressed. I believe forgiveness is for you. You would be the only one who is affected if you chose to remain angry hurt or in conflict with anyone. Sure an apology helps... Helps your ego stay intact.. ALSO helps the transgressor feel better. It's not for the receiver of the apology. And forgiveness isn't for the transgressor. Just my thoughts from having experienced being both the offended and the offender. Others may find themselves just fine after an apology. "I was wrong" could have the potential to completely melt my heart. Accountability acknowledgement AND a bit of validation is within those 3 words. It takes a somewhat evolved being.. One who truly cares about how their actions and words effect others.
