As a 36 year old dad with 2 kids (13 & 7), I am beyond lost and confused in this current world. I want a real relationship with love, loyalty, honesty, respect, and communication. I feel like it is borderline impossible (at least for me between work and providing for the needs of my children plus trying to find me time in-between). Add in the disrespectful ghosting culture and I find it hard to justify wasting my time with it most days. I've been on my own for 7 years now with 2 extremely short-term relationships sprinkled in, due to the woman not being as serious as I was in both cases, and at this point I'm not sure how I would even ease myself into being around another person constantly. The holidays seem to intensify these feelings being one of the few in my immediate family without a significant other so even though they may be empathetic I don't feel comfortable talking to them about my situation seeing as they haven't been there or are far removed from it. Maybe the right person would change all of those feelings for me but what about finding them? Anyone that can relate? Anyone with some helpful advice that has maybe helped you in a similar situation? Not looking for pity or anything of the sort, just genuinely looking for a circle of people I can relate to because life is tough in general for all of us no matter the circumstances.
