What should we do about the huge fraction of the population who currently rely on those jobs to survive?

Nobody wants to hear it but the only answer is to find new ways to make the economy work around it. As automation rises there will be a choice between allowing famine and extreme poverty to afflict a much larger amount of the population or utilize universal basic income so that people can survive and keep money circulating in the economy.

That's actually a common misconception. Look at Amazon and Wal-Mart, they're still big employers hiring thousands of people. Automation and robots are not designed to replace the current workforce, they are to increase efficiency, aka help company makes more money. In other words, low skill jobs will still exist, they are just valued less than ever because they become more and more replaceable

Yesterday I was having lunch in the breakroom , I realize no one socializes anymore as everyone is on there smartphones. Worst yet people sit at there own table as it's like no one knows how to communicate anymore. Granted I'm a shy introvert but I do try to make an effort at times.

I created 'Parallax reality'
So here on my 65" display you can see that I added the parallax effect to my home assistant, which tracks your head to give what a call 'Parallax reality'. It is using a 180° camera to carefully calculate your heads position. Yea I don't know why I'm posting this here 😂

Multi agent Ai assistant that can create 3D models out of any object in real time. Also you can waste your time chatting, generating images, or ask about the weather. It runs completely offline (I'm a programmer with a lots of free time).
