I am finally on red belt just balck tip left then I’m a black belt it’s going to be very difficult and I’m going to have to step out of my comfort zone but it’s ok it will all be worth it once I am a black belt but that doesn’t mean I’m don’t with taekwondo

Tá mé ar deireadh ar chrios dearg, tá tip dubh fágtha agus ansin beidh mé i mo chrios dubh. Beidh sé an-deacair agus beidh orm mo chrios compord a fhágáil, ach tá sé ceart go leor, beidh sé ar fad fiúntach nuair a bheidh mé i mo chrios dubh, ach ní chiallaíonn sin nach bhfuil mé críochnaithe le taekwondo.

At my school, black belt promotions require what they call credit tests. The number of credit tests you need to promote to the next Dan level is equal to whatever your current Dan level is. As a 1st Dan myself, I need to do 1 credit test before I can go up for 2nd. My opportunity was yesterday and, for lack of a better word, I completely blew it. I started doing the first of 3 forms and completely forgot how to do it less than 4 steps in. Then I was unable to get my board break to work. Practically killed myself out there and couldnt even manage to get a check in the box. Makes me question if I even deserve to be a 1st Dan to begin with

Ag mo scoil, teastaíonn tástálacha creidmheasa le haghaidh ardú céime crios dubh. Is é an líon tástálacha creidmheasa a theastaíonn uait chun ardú go leibhéal Dan eile ná an méid atá do leibhéal Dan reatha. Mar 1st Dan mé féin, teastaíonn tástáil creidmheasa amháin uaim sula bhféadfainn dul suas do 2nd. Bhí mo sheans inné agus, ar shlí eile, scrios mé é go hiomlán. Thosaigh mé ag déanamh an chéad cheann de 3 foirmeacha agus d'úsaideadh mé go hiomlán conas é a dhéanamh níos lú ná 4 chéim isteach. Ansin ní raibh mé in ann mo bhriseadh bord a chur i gcrích. Chuir mé mo chorp i mbaol ansin agus níor éirigh liom fiú seiceáil a fháil sa bhosca. Cuireann sé amhras orm an fiú dom a bheith i mo 1st Dan ar dtús.

In a little under 2 months, I go in front of the Masters to test for 2nd Dan. And I'm terrified. I don't think I'm in good enough shape, I don't think my forms are good enough, I don't think my kicks are high enough or strong enough.

Most days I even question if I deserve to be 1st Dan at all.

Crisis of confidence

I mbeagán faoi 2 mhí, téim os comhair na Máistir chun tástáil a dhéanamh don 2nd Dan. Agus tá eagla orm. Ní dóigh liom go bhfuil mé i gcruth go maith, ní dóigh liom go bhfuil mo fhoirmí go maith, ní dóigh liom go bhfuil mo chosa ard go leor nó láidir go leor.

Ar an gcuid is mó laethanta, cuireann mé amhras orm féin an bhfuil sé tuillte agam a bheith 1st Dan ar chor ar bith.

I've just learnt wong- yo tul. And I think I'm in love. I really enjoyed Do- San tul and got gold for it during my first tournament in Jan 💗

Tá mé tar éis foghlaim wong- yo tul. Agus sílim go bhfuil grá agam. Bhain mé an-taitneamh as Do- San tul agus fuair mé ór as sin le linn mo chéad chomórtas i mí Eanáir 💗
