What is your favorite author of all time and why?

Mine is a mix between Toshikazu Kawaguchi and John Flanagan.

 John Flanagan’s Ranger’s Apprentice universe is what I grew up on. Even though the books are fairly easy to read, I still loved the world building and how he made the characters both lovable and and ones that you overall hate. 

Toshikazu Kawaguchi is a Japanese literature writer who writes simple books that I would say are classified as realistic fiction. Even though they are simple, the stories just have enough to them where you don’t feel overwhelmed. Reading the small stories in each book brings a smile to my face - a warm feeling to my heart.

Favorite Author

Brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord as an example of suffering and patience.

The Infinite and the Divine:

Imagine if an immortal robotic Ash Ketchum and a sorcerer who can literally stop time were rivals. Imagine they each fought over some random prizm and that they would go to such lengths as literally hiding in an asteroid to get through a planets guns...

Then remember they are Necrons.. THE most technologically advanced race in the galaxy with a 'kill on sight' policy for anything not made of metal..

This is so far my favourite book about the neurons, it's a look into Necron society and does not take itself seriously in all the best ways! 

To sum it up, it's basically two step brothers fighting The Book..

In 2024 I finished 19 books. I’ve never kept count before but I’m sure this is my personal best. I wanted to make it a nice even 20 but it came down to the wire and some holiday traveling prevented me from finishing those last hundred pages. The list is in the order I read/finished them in.

That last book on the list was hands down my favorite. I’ve avoided Stephen King my whole life and I’m not exactly sure why. I absolutely loved this one and can’t recommend it enough if you’ve not read it. He had 48 books under his belt before he wrote this one in 2011 and perhaps it shows. I feel sorry for you if you’ve already seen the Hulu series with James Franco but haven’t read. I watched it afterwards and it specifically removes all of my favorite parts. A great story spoiled by a decent show with no heart. 

I had a great time with many of these books but if I had to give a 2nd and 3rd place I’d choose Cold Mountain and Silence of the Lambs in that order with an honorable mention to The Handmaid’s Tale. 

I couldn’t get into the show but that was a damn good book. This concludes my Ted Talk.
