Kashmiri fire pot or locally known as 'kangri' is a pot like tool traditionally used in harsh winters of the kashmir valley (also known as the paradise on earth). It is used as a source of heat and Charcoal which is lit up in it is used as the main source for producing heat. The traditional way of using a kangri is by keeping it under a long coat like clothing which is known as 'pheran' as the pot is open from upper side thus this pheran helps in capturing the heat and keeping the body warm . It is quite efficient in winters as it doesn't need electricity or any other power source for its functioning and also its portable so you can carry it with yourself under the Pheran. Kangri and Pheran has an important cultural aspect on the lives kashmiri people.
