Setting my goals at one book per week again for 2025. Hoping I will exceed it by more than I did this year. It's actually funny. Looking back at previous year's challenges, I can really see the correlation between my reading patterns and what was going on in life. 🤔 I've definitely shifted to watching a lot more television the past 5 years or so than I ever have previously.

My final review of this book….um yeah towards the end I ripped my glasses off, turned off my book light, and sobbed to “To Be Loved” by Adele for a solid two minutes before continuing the book….wtf 10/10 would recommend….(just forewarning you Adam Silvera, if you break my heart in the prequel and again in the upcoming book…I will never read anything you publish ever again)

Was holidaying in Japan exactly 1 year ago today before starting my clinical attachment when I experienced the first earthquake of my life - The New Year Earthquake, or 令和6年能登半島地震. 

Remembered catching up on some sleep after checking in to my apartment when I was jolted awake by the entire building swaying from side to side (didn't help that I was on the top floor too lmao). At that moment I froze, not from the swaying, but because of the full height glass panel windows shaking within their sills/frames barely a few steps from me. The first thought that came to mind was, "If this thing collapses, I'm probably as good as dead" 

Well thank the country's strict enforcement of building codes for earthquake resistance because I'm still here today, but it was nevertheless bittersweet given the events that culminated afterwards stirred up memories from 2011, as well as the 400+ recorded deaths to date. (The airport incident the day after wasn't exactly a cheery welcome to the year either lol)

This incident also piqued a newfound interest in geology and seismology, hence I undertook the personal task of learning much as I could about topics such as the Pacific Ring of Fire and future outlooks for the region etc. As they say, learning never stops!

Anyway, I was very happy to have this book delivered on the eve of the new year, and am positive this would provide even greater insight in deepening my understanding of the culture too through various recorded accounts 🙂

Reminiscence

Apparently I lost track of time and I have 3 hours to finish this book before my library loan expires. Can't renew it due to a wait list. Thank goodness today is my last day of vacation and I don't have to go into work. See you all this afternoon 🤣🤣🤣

I don't think I'm going to finish anything else this year, so my 2024 in books is pretty much wrapped up. 

I'm probably never going to read as many books as I used to, but I'm pretty content with where I'm at.
