Brandy and Baby Teemo

This is Brandy, a German Shepherd I had for a year when I was in my early twenties, and a very young Teemo, who would grow up to be my cat. Brandy came into my life while I was working at an animal hospital. She had spent five years chained up in a yard, and by the time she showed up, she had open… read more

Something New - Ginger Flavoured Brandy

Spotted this on sale at my local and thought i’d try it, as i love Ginger. Smells like car parts cleaner, doesn’t taste too bad and i can feel that ginger burn. I’ll have a couple more before starting a long coding session tonight! Prost!

Peach soju + vodka

Note to self: trust absolut. It is the better vodka. Unless there are other suggestions to mix with soju…. Next in queue: a bottle of brandy

Polish Blackberry Brandy

While in the liquor store today I spotted this Polish Blackberry Brandy, and being that it's 16f and continuing to drop for the next few days, I thought it could warm me up a little. Taste is OK, but does have a hint of Cough Medicine to it, most likely due to the Blackberry syrup they used (this… read more

Chocolate cake with banana

I get bored with my food. What do I do? Mix other things in it. This was originally a plain chocolate cake. Cakes dries out unless there’s a thick layer of icing in it. Things I did: Mix 75 ml of coffee brandy and 75 ml of coffee. Mash a piece of banana (or you can just slice it). Cut a piece of… read more

Tom Sharpe - Righteous assembly 😁

He had suddenly realized that the face of the murderer on the bed reminded him of someone. The realization sent him stumbling down the stairs to stare up at the great portrait of Sir Theophilus. A moment later he was back in the bedroom. Tiptoeing to the edge of the bed Kommandant van Heerden… read more

Am I the bad guy?

I’ve started to notice the way my mind settles into a room before my body does, how the thoughts come layered and deliberate, unfolding like a quiet strategy I never fully admit aloud. There’s a moment most evenings when I’m standing by the window, swirling a cup of coffee the way some men cradle… read more

Homemade macarons

Finally got round to making macarons and forgot to take pics before boxing them up but found this one without a box. I made a few types, this is a vanilla and bourbon macaron with dark chocolate ganache and a brandy soaked cherry in the middle (no stones!) Not really traditional, but I do like to… read more

French Coffee

Brandy. Grand Marnier. Coffee. Whipped cream. Delicious orange flavor from the Grand Marnier and a lovely morning buzz for brunch. 💜

Say cheese

I saw a post about a girl ranting that her date only talked about food and asked her what her favorite cheeses were.. I don’t know I’m a foodie, and awkward at small talk, so I think that’s pretty brilliant. I could talk a ridiculous amount about cheese… What are your top 10 favorite cheeses? Or… read more

Rare treats

It's not often I make a simple dessert. But when I do- they taste better than they look. I decided to use up the last of the apples before I had to throw them out. Made up some vanilla butter (from actual beans) and chucked in some dried cranberries... And a splash of brandy after it had all… (edited) read more

Grandma's Tooks 👵

My throat was feeling a bit congested maybe due to the cold weather. So a little brandy to help melt away anything is like a nice fix. I remember as a kid my grandma always refered to alcohol (in this case brandy) as her tooks. She's doesn't drink and usually has said stash for when she's making… read more
