DM-ing vs Player

Question

I have been a forever DM for a long time now, and while it started kinda against my wishes and only bc ppl asked for me to DM bc they enjoyed my campaigns a lot, I grew to love DM-ing and creating really immersive and elaborate campaigns. Now when I finally joined a campaign as a player, I expected it to be easy... but somehow it is so much harder 😂  RP-ing feels so much easier when you know the world and it's secrets and I feel so unsure of how I portray my character 🙈 Is that weird? Ho2 do other DMs feel?

It's like anything else my friend; it just takes practice. Both sides of the coin can be pretty daunting at first, but the more you do it, the easier it'll be.

I try to hand out lore sheets for campaigns to give the players basic knowledge about the world that their characters would know. Unless the campaign is about them being strangers in a strange land.
