Clvl 6 Barbarian
Just a build I thought of a while back for a Barbarian. Race decided on was Half-Orc (pretty typical) and Totem Warrior with 3rd level Eagle. Background is Custom. Ability Scores Skills STR 17 Indimidation DEX 14 Athletics CON 14 Perception INT 12 Survival WIS 13 Animal Handling CHA 12 Normally in most cases I think people would take 3rd level Bear for Totem but in this case I consider Eagle. The idea is at 5th level you get your Extra Attack feature - you can replace one of those attacks with something like a grapple or an attempt to shove. By this point your speed hits 40 and you can maintain that speed even with Medium Armor on. This is nice because you can double that movement using a bonus action to Dash, allowing you to move 80 feet and still use your action to attack. Enemies also have disadvantage with opportunity attacks as long as you don't attack recklessly before doing so.alternatively, if you successfully grapple an enemy before moving, you could potentially drag them an entire 40 feet if you choose to dash, which is somewhat impressive - you can displace someone, and you can still use your second attack to knock them prone or hit them. Then you take your 6th level as 1st level in fighter for the dueling style, which will add a +2 to damage with a single, one-handed weapon wielded. You get the +2 from rage, the +2 from the Fighting Style, and the +3 from your Strength, or +4 if you bumped it to 18 in this case somehow. With these stats it's a +7 or +8 to damage. This gives you flexibility because you get the benefit with an enemy grappled, or if you have a shield out. You can do either, depending on circumstance. With a 13 in Wisdom and taking the Resilient Feat at 4th level, that would increase the Wisdom Modifier to +2 and give you proficiency in that save. Alternatively, you could also take Mobile, allowing you 100 feet of movement on dashing while ignoring difficult terrain entirely and avoiding opportunity attacks from anything you attempt to hit if you so choose to make attacks. Skilled would give you proficiency in more skills, allowing you to do more exploration wise, and Shield Master would make Danger Sense even stronger as a feature on it's own. Increasing Strength or Constitution is never bad, either. Then at 7th level you can take your 6th level Barbarian Bear feature for Totem Warrior and increase your Carrying ability. Kind of nifty.

Friend prepped his first game to DM, so our group all are going to roll new characters. He's allowing us to start at level 3 with two uncommon magic items - and we roll for stats using 4D6, drop lows. Well...
The stars happened to align for me. I'm going to have to show him this and suggest that the Gauntlets of Ogre Power and the Headband of Intellect should both probably be outside the available options, because if a person can roll up a Hill Dwarf Draconic Sorcerer and get these stats on top of the... read more

When you prefer characters with flaws rather than being OP.
Whether having no social skills or so weak they couldn't hurt a fly I like to have fun with a character and use ingenious ways to play them and think outside the box. Playing a mute Puppeteer with a split personality disorder who talks through his puppet but can barely socialise or run, yet they... read more
