There is a cemetery about four hours from me which has allegedly housed a vampire. This particular crypt has allegedly held the bodies of seven different people over the years, not knowing which one was the vampire. So the story goes, a person travelled to and stayed in Romania, sometime during which they contracted "consumption", now known as tuberculosis, which in the 19th century was actually a symptom of the *medical condition* vampirism. They travelled back to the United States, where they succumbed to the disease, and died...Or so they thought. Not long afterward, bodies began appearing in the PA countryside with two puncture wounds in their necks, drained of their blood. The cemetery's caretaker saw fit to take action, having lived on the cemetery grounds. He barred the door to the crypt and chained it shut, ensuring the vampire's bloody swathe ended there. He also struck the name off of the crypt. The only identifiable mark that remains is an ornate, floral letter "π₯ " above the door. (edited)
