RICHARD LEWIS

I heard that the legendary Richard Lewis passed away the other day, and this was the first thought that wen't through my mind, so I figured I'd make this and share it. He gave up drinking and drugs in 1994, he remained sober, but it must have been a real struggle, because in his standup, books, interviews, and and throughout his time on Curb Your Enthusiasm, he'd be offered a drink and would have to remind Larry David (his lifelong friend) "I'm a recovering alcoholic and drug addict." I understand that a huge part of the 12 steps in AA & NA is admitting you have a problem and that you'll always be an alcoholic even if you quitlong ago. But I felt bad for the guy hearing him think of himself as still recovering after 30 years sober. It lumps him in the same category as a guy who's like 30 minutes sober, in my mind. Anyway, I'd say he's fully recovered now. Must have been difficult for him to finish the last 30 years of his life completely sober, but he did it. What do you think?
