Absolutely. The hardest thing is being in a relationship with someone who shows affection that slowly twists into manipulation. It's hard to recognize in that moment because you're getting things you crave, but the backside of the hand isn't visceral enough to tear you to reality. Being self aware and having conversations outside the relationship can help, but it's so damn hard sometimes.
