Certifications or Network Connections?
When I first got this job last year (when I "broke into tech") my manager had pulled me aside to tell me my resume was not what they were looking for because I didn't have many Certifications under my belt, but that they brought me on anyway because I asked enough good questions that they thought I could help manage the teams involved. I've been there most of the year and most of the people I work with got hired on because they knew somebody, were related to somebody, or were making a lateral move from another department deeper in the company. Most of them got their cert.s during downtime While working there! Are they even important??? It feels like I just need to be rubbing elbows better
