Job Certifications

Hey, so I'm looking for new jobs that require extra Certifications I don't yet have. Should I bother to get the certifications before getting hired, or wait to get hired before I sign up for classes? Where Do I Start!?

I finished my IT certifications, but as I was talking to one of my friends he told me that I won't be able to get an entry IT job with just my IT Support Specialist certs. So, what now?! Where do I start? Do entry jobs not teach you anything?!!?!?!
